BAPO Tech and Trends Webinar – FIOR & GENTZ – 360⁰ Orthotics: Utilising a unique comprehensive workflow for effective and efficient management of complex lower limb Neuro orthotics

Details

The 360⁰ Orthotics ecosystem is a comprehensive resource designed to support the prescription, design, manufacture and maintenance of complex AFOs and KAFOs. It empowers clinicians to deliver patient-centred care by combining structured guidance backed up with safety and warranty adherence, alongside the flexibility to apply clinical judgement. This balance ensures that interventions are safe, effective and tailored to individual needs.

The workflow adheres to established safety and quality standards, including the BAPO KAFO Standards, ensuring that all interventions meet professional and regulatory expectations. By streamlining processes and supporting decision-making, it enhances both clinical efficiency and patient outcomes. The orthoses maintenance schedule is clearly defined and easy to follow with full tutorial-based education from of each step from physical examination, planning the orthosis, casting, manufacture, setup and supply to ongoing maintenance. The patient’s ongoing care is therefore easily planned and cost expectations can be assessed, whilst providing a structure for supply of further interventions.

KAFOs and AFOs are one of the more complex aspects of orthotic care the 360⁰ Orthotics system provides a resource to guide clinicians and Technicians of all experience levels to achieve accurate, repeatable, safe and highly functional orthoses customised to suit the patient’s needs.

BAPO Tech and Trends Webinar – Buchanan Orthotics – Diverse Suspension Solutions for Advancing Prosthetic Care

Details

This webinar provides clinicians with a practical overview of modern prosthetic suspension solutions designed to improve comfort, skin health, and functional mobility. The course examines common limitations of traditional suspension methods—such as pistoning, skin irritation, and alignment constraints—and introduces alternative approaches that better address patient variability and complex clinical presentations.

Participants will gain insight into hybrid suspension technologies, including Coyote’s Air-Lock system, which combines the security of pin suspension with the benefits of suction. Key topics include system design, internal mechanics, fabrication workflows, and patient indications, with emphasis on clinical decision-making for both diagnostic and definitive sockets.

Real-world case studies highlight outcomes in active patients, individuals with compromised skin integrity, volume fluctuation, short residual limbs, and other challenging anatomical presentations. The webinar also explores fabrication efficiencies, alignment flexibility, and emerging workflows such as drop-in components and 3D-printed socket integration.

The course concludes with clinical tips, troubleshooting strategies, and guidance on incorporating these suspension solutions into everyday practice to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction.

BAPO Course – Orthotic management of early stroke

Course description:

Orthotic management of early stroke – A one day course

Within our busy clinical schedules, orthotists are often requested to provide opinion on orthotic intervention for stroke patients at all stages of their recovery. A common comment is we wish we had seen them earlier. If our wish came true. What would we do and what is the ideal approach for orthotic treatment from day one?

For physiotherapists, there are a plethora of evidence based interventions with little guidance for best approach treating and managing stroke survivors with motor impairments

Our course offers a well thought out clinically reasoned approach based on physiotherapy interventions and NICE guidelines to create a care pathway that gives patients and therapists the best opportunity to reach optimal recovery and independence.

This course commences with formal presentations supporting the pathway and leads to practical demonstration with patients.

Learning Outcomes:
Orthotic management of early stroke
Background and understanding of stroke pathology
What’s the evidence for interventions?
Current practice and variability
A proposed model to optimise motor learning.
Practical assessment and clinical test
Simulating interventions
Complimentary interventions
Case studies

Intended Participants:
☒ Orthotists
☒ Orthotic support workers
☒ Other: Physiotherapists

We encourage practising Orthotists or Orthotic Support Workers, who must be working in the UK, to apply for reimbursement from OETT (The Orthotic Education and Training Trust).
Course fee funding for non-BAPO members would be at the BAPO member rate for practising Orthotists or Orthotic Support Workers, who must be working in the UK only.
Applications can be made via the online applications link on the OETT website: www.oett.org.uk
Requests for reimbursement must include evidence of reflective learning/CPD.
