Teatime Talks – Critical Appraisal

This tea time talk provides an introduction into the principles of evidence-based practice, and the importance of critical appraisal to inform our clinical practice.
We will consider the steps required to answer your clinical question, understand the findings and summarise them for your patients.
The session will include:
• Defining your question
• Identifying your search terms
• Using healthcare databases to find the available research papers
• How to critically appraise the research
• How to act on the evidence and evaluate your clinical practice
This session will be a skills update for many clinicians and will touch on research methodologies and statistics used in health research.
