BAPO Introduces the new Chief Executive Officer – Sue Irving

Sue has held senior leadership roles in the not-for-profit sector for many years, most recently working in housing and before that she was CEO of Dumfries & Galloway Citizens Advice Service. She has an MBA from the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen and she has a keen interest in ensuring equal access to services for people with vulnerabilities and complex needs. Sue also has Board level experience and is currently Vice Chair of the Board of Dumfries & Galloway College and previously chaired a national homelessness charity. Sue’s priorities in her interim role at BAPO are to deliver the recommendations of the form and function review to ensure BAPO is in a strong position to deliver excellence for its members.

AHP Preceptorship Workforce Fellow – secondment or fixed term contract until March 2024

We are pleased to share a fantastic opportunity to work with the AHP Preceptorship and Foundation Support programme at NHS England Workforce, Training and Education. We are looking for a highly motivated senior clinician and HCPC or General Osteopathic Council registrant to support the planning, monitoring and delivery of NHSE WT&Es Allied Health Professions (AHP) preceptorship and foundation support workforce programme. This role would suit someone with knowledge of preceptorship and early careers support for AHPs and a background of implementing preceptorship or early careers support within an organisation.
 
The role is predominantly remote working for the national programme of work with some travel as required so applicants are welcome from across England.

Preceptorship Launch Webinar recording for Prosthetists and Orthotists

The British Association of Prosthetists and Orthotists (BAPO) in collaboration with NHS England Workforce Training and Education (NHSE WT&E) National AHP Preceptorship and Foundation Support Programme held a Zoom Webinar on 13 September tailored specifically for prosthetists and orthotists.
 
The event, hosted by BAPO, was an informative and engaging session.

Apprenticeship Opportunity – Orthotics Degree Apprentice

Apprenticeship Opportunity – Orthotics Degree Apprentice – £29,460 – £31,909 per annum inclusive HCAS

The RNOH NHS Trust is the largest orthopaedic hospital in the UK and a global leader in our field. We provide a dynamic working environment where we support frontline staff to implement improvements so that we can realise our vision of being a world leading neuro musculoskeletal hospital providing the best patient care and staff experience in the NHS, delivering world leading research, and offering a strong foundation of education, training and career progression . An Apprentice Orthotist is a developmental role within the Therapies Directorate at the RNOH. Your job will be to support the Orthotics team with the delivery of the service whilst completing a Level 6 Apprenticeship qualification to become a registered professional.

As an apprentice, you will attend university to complete all required modules of study, and undertake some clinical placements in a non-dominant discipline.  The university will be the University of Derby, whilst most provision is online – learners will be required to travel to Derby for one week per academic year, with student accommodation provided by the university.
