Save the date: BAPO Regional Conference – Newcastle 2027

BAPO is pleased to announce that our next Regional Conference will take place in Newcastle on Friday 23 April 2027.

Our conference theme, Innovate, Integrate, Inspire, will bring colleagues together to explore new possibilities, share expertise and encourage progress across prosthetics and orthotics.

  • Innovate: exploring new possibilities.

  • Integrate: bringing expertise and care together.

  • Inspire: encouraging progress and action.

The venue will be announced shortly. Save the date and stay tuned for more information about the programme, booking and opportunities to get involved.

Abstract submissions now open

We warmly invite submissions from prosthetists, orthotists, technicians, support workers, managers, researchers, educators, learners and wider AHP colleagues. Share your work through a 15-minute oral presentation or a poster presentation.

Conference theme: Innovate, Integrate, Inspire

Our theme invites you to explore how prosthetics and orthotics can evolve through new ideas, collaborative care and a shared ambition to improve people’s lives.

  • Innovate: exploring new possibilities.

  • Integrate: bringing expertise and care together.

  • Inspire: encouraging progress and action.

We welcome your interpretation of the theme, drawing on your expertise, experiences and perspective. You do not need to cover every aspect; a focused presentation that connects with the wider theme is equally valuable.

How to submit your abstract

Prepare your abstract by completing the MSForm, indicating whether you would prefer an oral or poster presentation. There may be an opportunity for poster presenters to provide a two-minute presentation on their posters.

Submission deadline: 29 January 2027

Presentation and submission requirements

Oral presentations

Oral presentations will last 15 minutes, followed by a Q&A session of up to 5 minutes.

Poster presentations

If selected, you will receive an optional BAPO poster template and guidance on presenting posters at conferences.

All posters must be A1 size in portrait format. Posters that do not meet this requirement will not be displayed. Authors are responsible for printing their poster and bringing it to the conference.

Poster presenters must be available during the designated session to discuss their work.

Selection, registration and prizes

All abstracts will be reviewed by a selection panel against predefined criteria. Abstracts not selected for an oral presentation may be considered for a poster presentation or future events.

  • Each accepted abstract will receive one complimentary conference registration.

  • A £200 prize will be awarded for the best oral presentation.

  • A £100 prize will be awarded for the best poster.

Applicants will be notified of the outcome by the week commencing 22 February 2027.

All accepted presenters must email BAPO an electronic copy of their poster or oral presentation, as applicable, by 9 April 2027.

Share your work with the profession

We look forward to receiving your submissions and showcasing the ideas, experiences and collaborative work taking place across prosthetics and orthotics.
