A Biomechanical approach to treatment and early gait re-education following stroke and use of casts as short-term orthoses.
This course considers the overall impact of biomechanical alignment on gait re-education following stroke. Why it is essential to motor learning and how it can be considered within a therapy programme. An assessment method will be presented along with a means of adopting the principles as soon as the patient is on their feet when appropriate. This course will be of use to any therapist involved or wishing to be involved in early gait rehabilitation following stroke. The presenters are an experienced physiotherapist and orthotist who have implemented this technique over many years. The course will include practical application of a cast and a patient demonstration.
