The British Association of Prosthetics and Orthotics (BAPO) maintains a dedicated register for UK-based prosthetic and orthotic locums, as well as for private practices operating within this field.
This register serves as a central resource for members of the public, healthcare providers, and other professionals seeking access to prosthetic and orthotic services delivered outside of the NHS. It lists Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered prosthetists and orthotists who offer their expertise privately, either on a locum basis or through established private practices.
While the register makes it easier to identify and connect with practitioners, it is important to note that BAPO does not provide endorsements, recommendations, or guarantees regarding the quality of care, services, or outcomes associated with any individual or practice listed. The only assurance given is that each person or practice on the register holds current BAPO membership.
Eligibility to join the register
- All current BAPO members are entitled to add their professional details to the locum register.
- Members who own or manage private practices, and BAPO Partners may also list their practice information, ensuring that potential clients and referrers can easily locate their services.
By maintaining this register, BAPO supports transparency, accessibility, and professional visibility within the prosthetics and orthotics community, helping members of the public make informed choices when seeking care.
Whilst BAPO is providing you with HCPC numbers for each member listed, it is your responsibility to ensure the member has current HCPC registration and has the appropriate insurance for the service you are seeking. You can check the HCPC register here: https://www.hcpc-uk.org/check-the-register/
