The event aimed to equip Orthotists with the assessment, diagnostic and image interpretation skills to enable them to differentially diagnose and manage Musculoskeletal foot and ankle conditions.
"I attended the MSK Foot and Ankle assessment course at Stobhill hospital in April 2015. This is one of the best courses I have attended for quite some time. The content was excellent – sound, evidence based practice but presented by one of the experts of the profession in a practical way that makes it clinically relevant. I feel it would be beneficial for clinicians of all levels of experience and definitely the course to attend for any training related to the foot and ankle."
"April 2015 saw my first formal orthotic course covering foot and ankle musculoskeletal issues for many a year. In preparation for the two day course my fellow orthotists and I were asked to familiarise ourselves with muscles, bones, joints, joint ranges, nerve supply, circulation and ligaments of the lower limb. This was no mean feat for a 50 something, but revise I did. Having this knowledge at our fingertips, we were rewarded by linking our clinical experience with new biomechanical theory, scientifically evidenced and expertly presented by Simon Dickenson, Laura Brand and Chris Cox.
Of course no orthotic course would be complete without orthotists removing their socks and shoes and assessing one another’s feet. These ‘hands-on’ sessions gave us confidence to put our new biomechanical assessment skills to the test right away in clinic.
This course was time well-spent, equipping orthotists with new knowledge to improve their biomechanical assessment and differential diagnosis of the foot and ankle."
